Having played guitar for over 30 years and being a keen collector of vintage guitars, a change in career saw Pete attend the Totnes School of Guitar Making. It was a revelation. Over the next year Pete stayed on to complete 3 courses in total, learning the finer points in creating solidbody guitars, basses and archtop instruments.
Following his time at the school, Pete set up Lewis Guitar Works in 2013 to offer a service, repair and customer instrument build service.
As well as working closely with many local musicians, Pete’s skills and bespoke guitars have also been used by artists such as Kula Shaker, Joanne Shaw Taylor and Inglorious to name just a few.
Pete’s work has been featured on BBC Radio 4 and in Guitarist Magazine. And some of his vintage guitars have form the subject of a ‘That Pedal Show’ vintage special.
When not in the workshop, Pete also plays in two local bands as well as attending as many live music events as possible.
